Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communications, or related field required.
  • Three (3) years of experience in journalism, public relations, media relations, or government affairs is expected.
  • Additional years of experience may substitute for education.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate incoming media and filming requests, including on-site editorial shoots, media events, and press releases.
  • Execute strategy for media promotion of public programs, events, and other museum news.
  • Write press releases and media alerts, conduct media pitches, and host media events.
  • Support journalist visits, photographers, videographers, live media coverage, and social media content creation.
  • Provide in-museum and off-site support for media events, community events, and press conferences.
  • Gather information to share with the public in line with the Communications strategy.
  • Engage with regional media beyond press releases to advance the Media Relations plan.
  • Serve as liaison between Public Affairs, Community Engagement, external contractors, and Marketing and Communications.
  • Make media calls for follow-up on stories and maintain media lists.
