Job summary

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is seeking a Plumbing Shop Maintainer to operate, maintain, and repair extensive plumbing systems across museum facilities. The role requires specialized plumbing and pipefitter skills, with the ability to perform soldering, brazing and PVC piping and to lift heavy loads as needed.

Candidates should have at least two years of related experience and a preferred college-level or technical education.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years’ experience with plumbing systems and equipment.
• Knowledge of soldering, brazing and PVC piping.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift at least 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and repair museum plumbing equipment and systems.
• Inspect and schedule repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain records of work performed and materials used.
• Respond to building emergencies and perform preventative maintenance.
• Work on projects across all museum buildings.
