Job summary

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is seeking a Plumbing Shop Maintainer to operate, maintain, and repair our extensive plumbing systems across Museum buildings. You will perform preventative maintenance, manage records, and respond to emergencies, ensuring reliable services for galleries, facilities, and public spaces.

Qualified candidates have two years of plumbing experience, with pipe-fitting and soldering skills, and the ability to lift heavy materials.

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience with museum plumbing systems.
• Licensed plumber and pipe fitter.
• Experience in soldering, brazing and PVC piping.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• High school diploma or equivalency; college degree or technical training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and repair all Museum plumbing equipment and systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and required repairs.
• Prepare and maintain records on work performed and materials used.
• Respond to building emergencies and support special projects across all buildings.
