Job summary

The Tallahassee Museum seeks a Chief Operating Officer to lead financial and accounting operations, human resources, administration, facilities, security, IT, risk management, visitor services, and vendor relations. This role partners with the President/CEO to translate priorities into achievable plans and ensures budgets and staffing align with available resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field with nonprofit operations experience.
• Strong experience in accounting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and audits.
• Proven ability to lead HR, supervision, policy administration, and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership of financial and accounting operations, including budgeting and reporting.
• Oversee HR, administration, facilities, security, IT, risk management, visitor services, and vendor relations.
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, grant reporting, inventory of internal controls, and ethics compliance.
• Lead organizational planning to ensure sustainable staffing, programs, and operations.
• Communicate decisions and maintain confidentiality while advising the President/CEO and Board.
