Job summary

The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) is seeking a Facilities Attendant to maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of the Museum and the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, including restrooms, public areas, and exterior spaces.

You will assist with set-up and breakdown for events, coordinate with the Facilities Manager on daily priorities, and help ensure a welcoming visitor experience while safeguarding facilities and art collections.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous housekeeping, custodial, janitorial, or facilities experience preferred; two years desirable.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Museum staff and other departments.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain restrooms, public areas, floors, glass daily.
• Maintain restroom facilities and supplies.
• Care for Sculpture Garden exterior areas, walkways, and trash receptacles.
• Operate floor-care machines safely and properly.
• Use and store cleaning products and PPE per safety procedures.
• Monitor areas and promptly address spills, debris, or safety concerns.
• Coordinate with Facilities Manager on daily assignments and priorities.
• Assist with setup/breakdown of furniture, equipment, and materials for events.
• Support events with cleaning and post-event breakdown.
• Work in crowded, noisy environments; adjust priorities as needed.
• Maintain standards of cleanliness, safety, service, and visitor experience.
• Follow policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.
