Job summary

Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) in the Blount Cultural Park seeks a skilled art preservation professional. The role involves maintaining exterior and interior artworks, coordinating installations and de-installations, and preparing pieces for exhibition and safe shipment.

The ideal candidate holds a relevant bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience in handling, maintaining, and caring for art or artifacts, including carpentry and graphic design work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and five years' experience handling, maintaining art or artifacts.
• Experience with fine carpentry, matting, and framing for exhibitions.
• Graphic design software and CAD used to create exhibition graphics/layouts.

Responsibilities

• Care for artworks on exterior grounds, including sculpture garden and fountain.
• Move art in/out of storage and prepare works for exhibition and shipment.
• Design and fabricate exhibition furniture and graphics.
• Maintain inventories, schedule care, and budget treatments.
