Seattle Art Museum is seeking an Environmental Services and Event Support Assistant to perform janitorial duties and assist with event setup across SAM's three locations: Downtown Seattle, Olympic Sculpture Park, and Seattle Asian Art Museum.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, customer service, safe operation of cleaning equipment, and flexibility to support events, weather emergencies, and daily operations in a busy museum environment.

Qualifications

• One year experience in janitorial/environmental services in a commercial, institutional, hospitality, or healthcare setting.
• Orientation towards customer service.
• Excellent housekeeping skills with a sharp eye for detail.
• Ability to operate environmental services equipment.
• Ability to understand, read, write and speak English clearly in person and over radio system.
• Communicate reliably via email and text messaging.
• Ability to learn policies and procedures as applicable to Environmental Services duties and knowledge of the protection and preservation of works of art.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to interact with the public and with co-workers professionally and tactfully.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to pass and maintain security background check clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily janitorial duties and general cleaning across three museum locations.
• Stock supplies in restrooms and throughout the facility.
• Provide emergency spill response and hazardous waste disposal.
• Move and setup event materials and assist with room conversions.
• Ensure cleanliness of event spaces before, during, and after events.
• Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive visitor experience.
