Job summary

Betty Brinn Children’s Museum in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a dedicated Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and staff. The role covers routine cleaning in public and staff areas, supports special events, and contributes to high cleanliness standards.

Ideal candidates are proactive, reliable, and able to work independently while ensuring a positive guest experience. Schedule includes early morning hours and weekend availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one year custodial or cleaning experience.
• Knowledge of safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and flexible hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine custodial cleaning throughout the Museum, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, and restroom sanitization.
• Clean and maintain exhibit spaces, offices, common areas, and other guest-facing areas.
• Monitor facility conditions and promptly report safety hazards, damaged equipment, maintenance concerns, or operational issues.
• Safely operate custodial equipment and use approved cleaning chemicals in accordance with procedures and safety standards.
• Maintain inventory and organization of custodial supplies, tools, and equipment; report low stock or repair needs promptly.
• Support setup, cleanup, and custodial needs for special events and programs.
• Create and maintain a welcoming environment for all guests, visitors, and team members.
