Job summary

Virginia Museum of History & Culture seeks a Café Associate to support the Commonwealth Café within the Operations & Finance division. You will take, prepare, and serve food and beverages, delivering best-in-class customer service while maintaining a clean, safe work environment across the café.

The role emphasizes cash handling, daily reconciliation, and adherence to food safety standards. Part-time, non-exempt position with a focus on mornings, weekends, and occasional evenings.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide a positive experience.
• Accept and serve food and beverage orders to recipe and customer specifications.
• Ensure clean, safe front-line and back-of-house spaces.
• Provide accurate daily cash drawer reconciliation.
• Maintain food safety and cleanliness per state/local law and Virginia ABC regulations.
• Track sell-by and expiration dates; rotate items accordingly.
• Operate café equipment and point of sale system.
• Stay informed about museum events and exhibits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
