Job description

Job Description Summary

The Storm Eye Institute – Storm Eye treats adult and pediatric patients across the tri-county area. It includes specialties such as general ophthalmology, glaucoma, retina, cornea, oculoplastic, and optometry.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Performing advanced medical history assessments, checking visual acuity, and dilating patients' eyes.
  2. Conducting basic slit-lamp exams, visual fields, color vision tests, lensometry, tonometry, keratometry, and refractometry.
  3. Assisting with office surgical procedures.
  4. Maintaining complete and accurate patient records.
  5. Preparing and maintaining exam rooms and sterilizing instruments.
  6. Screening patient phone calls and inquiries.
  7. Following Guest Relation Policy: being polite, attentive, and courteous to all patients.
  8. Performing other related duties incidental to the work.

Additional Details:

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, no weekends or holidays.
  • Minimum Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of specialized ophthalmic experience or completion of a certified ophthalmic technician or assistant program.
  • Certifications: JCAHPO certification as a COT or COA, and current BLS certification.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; good vision (corrected to 20/40); and ability to work in various environments.
