Job Description Summary

Perform high-quality lab studies and related quality assurance duties in a timely and cost-effective manner, as deemed appropriate by MUSC Physicians – Primary Care and Attending/Ordering Physician, while practicing universal precautions. The position covers all locations and requires flexibility to be assigned to and rotate through all sites.

Responsibilities
  • Perform various lab assays as ordered by a medical doctor in accordance with OSHA, CLIA, and MUSC regulations.
  • Ensure accurate calibration, quality control, cleaning, and scheduled maintenance of lab equipment, documented and submitted as required.
  • Maintain documentation of all lab results and remedial actions, communicate as appropriate, and assist with accessioning.
  • Maintain medical supplies within cost-effective parameters.
  • Attend in-services, meetings, participate in committees, and continuing education as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP or equivalent. If not certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
Additional Information

Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Must have or be able to qualify for respirator use, maintain 20/40 vision corrected, and work indoors in a latex-safe environment.
