Job Overview

MUSC Health, a 750-bed academic medical center in Charleston, SC, is seeking a MOHS Histotechnologist to support the MOHS surgery clinic, assisting physicians in treating various skin cancers. The Histotechnologist I will provide high-quality histotechnological services under physician supervision and work closely with the MOHS lead to learn protocols and support skin cancer treatments.

Position Details

  • Pay Rate: Hourly, Grade: Health-27
  • Hours: 40/week, Day shift
Responsibilities
  • Process specimens received in the MOHS/Frozen Histology lab with minimal supervision.
  • Ensure accurate specimen handling, processing, and record-keeping.
  • Adhere to quality control policies and regulatory standards (CLIA/DHEC).
  • Assist in surgical procedures by establishing specimen orientation and mapping.
  • Collaborate with surgeons and physicians to ensure testing accuracy.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or health sciences, or
  • Associate’s degree in histotechnology with relevant coursework, or
  • High School diploma with histologic techniques certification and two years of on-the-job training.
Certifications

No professional experience required. Certification in histologic techniques (ASCP - HT/HTL) preferred.

Physical Requirements

Standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting objects up to 50 lbs, and exposure to chemicals and tissues are required.

Additional Information
