Job description

Bristol Environmental Solutions, LLC is seeking a qualified Munitions Response Quality Control Geophysicist in our Golden, CO; Wilmington, NC; or Marysville, WA location. This position can also be remote. The role involves conducting duties as a Quality Control (QC) Geophysicist within a munitions response geophysical program, utilizing digital geophysical technology and advanced geophysical classification (AGC).

The individual will lead geophysical planning, including staffing, scope development, logistical planning, and client interface. The candidate should have managerial, leadership, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and technical skills, with a deep understanding of geophysical mapping techniques and current industry technologies.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Support obtaining and maintaining Department of Defense DAGCAP certification.
  2. Review and update geophysical SOPs; develop procedures for data management, processing, analysis, storage, and reporting.
  3. Attend site walks, project kickoffs, audits, and meetings to support project planning and presentation.
  4. Ensure personnel understand their roles during planning and execution to meet project objectives.
  5. Support proposal development, including effort estimation, technical scope, risk, and scheduling.
  6. Review contract documents and explain plans to staff.
  7. Coordinate with project teams to meet USACE QA requirements.
  8. Lead geophysical QC during fieldwork and design Data Usability Assessments.
  9. Ensure high-quality project delivery, safety standards, and adherence to Bristol’s standards.
  10. Maintain professional, technical, and ethical standards among staff and support client relationships.
  11. Travel for meetings and field projects as required.
Required Knowledge or Skills
  • Understanding of DERP, CERCLA, MR-QAPP, AGC-QAPP, and related regulations.
  • Experience with AGC data processing, analysis, validation, and software like Geosoft UX-Analyze.
  • Experience managing GPS and geophysical data, and familiarity with technologies such as EM61-MK2, MetalMapper, TEMTADS, and Trimble GPS units.
  • Strong critical thinking, effort estimation, equipment/subcontractor selection, and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple projects.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in geology, geophysics, or a related field, or equivalent experience with geophysical methods in munitions response.

Experience

Minimum 8 years in data management and applied geophysics supporting munitions response, including 3 years supporting DAGCAP certification.

Special Requirements/Certifications

Master’s Degree in a relevant scientific discipline plus 10 years of industry experience in data management and geophysics supporting munitions response.

Physical Requirements
  • Moderate physical workload, ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force.
  • Close visual acuity for reading and operating equipment.
  • Ability to hike, operate geophysical instruments, walk, and perform repetitive motions.
  • No adverse environmental conditions expected; accommodations available for disabilities.
