Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Munitions Handler to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada, supporting the Hawthorne Army Depot. The role involves warehousing, stock movement, inventory, and demilitarization of munitions in controlled environments.

Responsibilities include operating MHE, recording accountability, and ensuring safety and compliance. Candidates must obtain a Secret US Government Clearance; US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• 0-1 year of general work experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent, required.
• Must satisfactorily complete the Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working Ammunition Operations within 90 days of hire.
• Must be willing and able to be trained to operate forklift/fork truck or material handling devices.
• Willing and able to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.
• Computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
• Ability to speak publicly and communicate clearly during normal and crisis situations.
• Demonstrated willingness to be a team player.
• Able to wear PPE including Safety hat, shoes, gloves, and glasses; work in safety/environmental compliant environments.
• Maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform essential functions.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and pass an MVR check with a clean record.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance; US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Move ordnance items or components into/out of storage facilities; perform inventory, storage arrangement, accessibility, inspection, loading, and packaging.
• Operate manual, technical, and mechanized processes in storage, receipt, shipment, inspection of explosive ordnance items or components.
• Perform destruction and demilitarization of ammunition and explosive components.
• Operate automated systems within a munitions demilitarization process.
• Follow all local, state, and federal compliance documents and procedures.
• Perform work safely, with focus on safety of self and others, per environmental regulations and permits.
• Operate mobile equipment such as MHE and transport vehicles; may use LMP and AIT tools.
• Record and report munition accountability and discrepancies to authorities.
• Remove dunnage; maintain clean, secure work area; keep storage areas free of debris and vegetation around explosive facilities.
• Stand/walk/sit; lift/push/carry/pull up to 25-50 lbs; stretch and maintain posture; handle machinery and tools; discriminate colors.
• Must obtain and maintain required training per Master Training Plan.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
