Job summary

The City of Everett is seeking a Plant/Pump Maintenance Mechanic to inspect, operate, and perform preventive maintenance on equipment for municipal water distribution and wastewater systems. Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years of experience in utilities or related construction or mechanical experience. OR completion of a general mechanical vocational technical program.
  • Possession of a Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) 1 certification or ability to obtain a QEW 1 within 6 months of hire; QEW 2 within the first year.
  • Possession of a valid Washington State Driver License within 30 days of hire.
  • Possession and maintenance of a Washington State Electrician’s card is highly desirable.
  • Depending on area of assignment, certification such as forklift, elevated platforms, and crane operator certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, operate, and perform preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities relating to municipal water distribution and wastewater systems.
  • Assist other staff with maintenance work including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general labor tasks.
  • Work under general supervision and be reviewed for correctness usually by a Utility Maintenance Technician or supervisor.
  • Be available for emergency call-outs and to work weekends and holidays as required.
