Job summary

Van Cleef Engineering Associates LLC is seeking a Municipal Engineer (Project Manager) to lead municipal engineering projects from Mount Arlington, NJ. The role combines technical direction with client relationship management across public sector projects.

You will oversee road, stormwater, and land development design, coordinate capital improvements, and mentor junior engineers while developing new business opportunities for the firm.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering; NJ PE required.
• CME, CFM, and/or PP a plus.
• 7+ years of progressive experience servicing private clients and/or managing infrastructure projects or designing land development projects.
• Experience with site development strongly preferred.
• Public testimony before Land Use Boards a plus.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; GIS and Hydroflow experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead municipal engineering projects including road rehabilitation, stormwater management, subdivision and land development reviews, and utility design.
• Coordinate and manage capital improvement projects for public sector clients.
• Oversee technical developments, scheduling, and resolution of design and construction issues.
• Prepare work plan proposals, establish budgets, and provide construction cost estimates.
• Monitor project progress to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Review and approve project shop drawings and detailed engineering documents.
• Engage in marketing and new business development with existing and potential clients.
