Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead our Municipal Engineering team. You will guide projects from planning through delivery, collaborating with municipal leaders and design teams to shape local communities.

The role requires a PE license, 8+ years in municipal engineering, and strong project management skills. You’ll oversee budgets, schedules, and quality while working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 8+ years of municipal engineering/capital project design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
  • Experience supervising the work of assigned staff on scope, schedule, quality and budget.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • CFM certification preferred.
  • English reading/writing proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead municipal engineering projects from design to delivery.
  • Prepare plans, specs, bid documents, cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with municipal leaders, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations and land development ordinances.
  • Oversee site investigations and due diligence activities.
  • Manage budgets and deadlines for capital improvement projects.

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for an experienced and driven Project Manager to lead our Municipal Engineering team in Fort Lauderdale, FL!

In this leadership role, you’ll take charge of projects that shape local communities—designing safer roadways, upgrading vital utilities, improving stormwater systems, and enhancing municipal facilities. From big-picture planning to final delivery, you’ll guide every step of the process, working hand‑in‑hand with municipal leaders, regulatory agencies, and our talented design teams.

Responsibilities
  • Municipal Engineering, including design of capital improvement projects, grant work, planning & zoning application reviews.
  • Preparation of construction plans and specifications, public bid documents, construction cost estimates, and associated construction documents.
  • Ability to evaluate public work issues in municipalities.
  • Ability to address and resolve resident complaints with respect to municipal engineering department inquiries.
  • Ability to manage capital improvement construction projects with respect to deadlines and budgets.
  • Be familiar with State regulations and requirements.
  • Review of land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine land development limitations for the property.
  • Site Investigation and Due Diligence including the review of ordinances and utility service research.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management design and regulations including County, Soil Conservation Districts.
  • Grading Design to ensure value engineering is achieved through earthwork analysis, and site safety is accomplished through the use of appropriate design slopes.
  • Design of Utility Systems including stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer service, park and recreation, etc. Also involves determination and resolution of vertical and horizontal utility conflicts that may exist.
  • Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Design, Best Management Practices, swale design, spillway design, and determination of construction sequence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 8+ years of municipal engineering/capital project design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D Preferred.
  • Experience managing and supervising the work efforts of assigned staff regarding scope, schedule, quality and budget of projects.
  • Ability to track and oversee multiple projects.
  • Self‑Starter who can work independently and with team members.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job‑related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
