The Village of Carol Stream is seeking an Assistant Planner to join the Community Development Department. This full-time role handles planning and zoning review under the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), including permit assessments, inspections, and enforcement processing.

The ideal candidate communicates well, works independently, and collaborates with internal and external teams. MS Office proficiency and GIS familiarity are a plus; valid Illinois driver’s license is required.

Formación

• Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Architecture or related field.
• Minimum of one year of experience, preferably in municipal planning and zoning administration; internship accepted.
• Possession of a valid Illinois Driver’s License.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook); familiarity with GIS software is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Review building permit, development, and business registration applications; conduct property compliance inspections; and process zoning enforcement cases.
• Perform vital research and data analysis projects within the Village’s GIS.
• Attend monthly evening Plan Commission/ZBA meetings and present staff reports and recommendations.
