Interwest Consulting Group is seeking a skilled Permit Technician to join a dynamic team focused on municipal services across CA and NV. You will handle plan checks, permit processing, and coordination with planning, engineering, and building departments.

A strong foundation in construction knowledge and customer service is essential. We value accuracy and efficiency in permit tracking, data entry, and responding to public inquiries.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of administrative/customer service experience required.
• Building and/or construction knowledge or background preferred.
• Permitting and/or municipal experience is a plus.
• ICC Permit Technician Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor technical plan check to ensure compliance with Public Works and Building Department standards.
• Interpret engineering and building plans, maps, and legal descriptions.
• Issue and prepare permits related to plan checks for compliance with standards and city ordinances.
• Understand and apply building code, zoning, and land-use regulations at county/state level.
• Research and compile data from field verifications or office records for reports or inquiries.
• Perform permit-related monetary transactions, accounts receivable coding, and invoicing.
• Coordinate routing of permits, plans, and maps using specialized permit-tracking software.
• Respond to development inquiries and provide recommendations to supervisors.
