Job summary

HEPCO, Inc. seeks a Municipal Infrastructure Project Engineer to support planning, design, permitting, and construction administration of municipal civil projects across Southern Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.

You will work with project managers, utilities, municipalities, and regulators to deliver high-quality engineering solutions from initial concept through construction support. The role focuses on water and sewer systems, roadways, and stormwater, with potential for project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering.
  • 4–5 years of relevant municipal, utility, transportation, or site-civil experience.
  • Engineering-in-Training with active progress toward PE, or a PE license.
  • Experience with water distribution, sanitary sewer, roadways, sidewalks, or stormwater.
  • Working knowledge of design principles, construction documents, specs, and cost estimating.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel to ME/NH/MA.

Responsibilities

  • Support design and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects including water, sewer, roadways and drainage.
  • Prepare calculations, reports, plans, specs, cost estimates, and permit applications.
  • Develop design documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Coordinate project activities with project managers, senior engineers, surveyors, utilities, municipal clients, contractors, and regulators.
  • Assist with permitting and regulatory approvals at municipal, state, and local levels.
  • Support tracking of project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables; communicate status to the team.
  • Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and project-coordination meetings.
  • Provide construction-phase support including RFIs, submittals, and field observations.
  • Maintain organized engineering files, calculations, design documentation, and project records.
