Job summary

The City of Beverly is seeking a Fleet Technician to perform daily operations and scheduled maintenance on municipal vehicles and equipment, including heavy equipment, emergency response vehicles, and trailers. The role supports fire apparatus maintenance and participates in storm response and special events.

Supervision comes from the Fleet Superintendent, with potential to mentor seasonal staff. Strong recordkeeping, safety, and coordination with divisions are essential to success in this role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with advanced vocational/technical training in automotive mechanics.
• 3–5 years of experience as a mechanic in a fleet environment with heavy equipment.
• Computer literacy is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, oversee, guide, and train new employees, cooperative students, or seasonal staff.
• Prioritize assignments and implement workplans.
• Execute maintenance schedules and projects.
• Maintain accurate records of work progress and completed tasks.
• Provide a clean and well-organized work environment.
• Assist in cost estimates and inventory management.
• Interact with the public as needed.
• Perform maintenance on municipal vehicles, heavy equipment, and related assets.
• Support maintenance of fire apparatus and equipment.
