Job summary

City of Williams is seeking a Finance Director to lead the Finance Department and serve as the City's principal financial advisor. You will oversee accounting, budgeting, reporting, payroll, and cash management while ensuring GAAP and GASB compliance and strong internal controls.

You will coordinate audits, prepare financial statements, and work with the City Manager, City Council, auditors, and stakeholders to safeguard public assets and guide fiscal policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Public Administration with four years of progressively responsible experience in governmental or public sector fiscal management.
• Experience must include supervisory or management responsibilities.
• A combination of education, training, and governmental or public-sector financial management totaling 10 years may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and oversees the City's financial operations and Finance Department.
• Serves as the principal financial advisor to the City Manager and City Council.
• Maintains accounting systems, ledgers, reconciliations, and records per GAAP and GASB.
• Coordinates annual operating and capital budget preparation and monitoring.
• Oversees payroll, accounts payable/receivable, purchasing controls, and cash management.
• Coordinates annual independent audits and related schedules and responses.
• Presents financial statements and forecasts to management and City Council.
• Develops policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets.
• Ensures compliance with applicable laws, policies, and standards.
