• Provides professional accounting and financial management services directly to participating local governments.
• Works as part of AML’s shared-services team, serving several municipalities at once.
• Hands-on accounting across transactional accounting, reconciliation, financial reporting, problem solving, and helping municipal staff understand and manage financial systems.

Alaska Municipal Financial Solutions (AMFS) is AML’s shared financial services program, providing scalable accounting, financial management, and technical assistance to municipalities and other eligible public-sector organizations throughout Alaska. AMFS is designed to help communities maintain reliable financial systems, meet financial management and reporting responsibilities, strengthen internal capacity, and access professional expertise that may otherwise be difficult to recruit or retain locally.

Under the general direction of the AMFS Manager, Controller, or other assigned supervisor, the Municipal Finance & Accounting Specialist provides professional accounting and financial management services directly to participating local governments. The position works as part of AML’s shared-services team and may serve several municipalities at the same time, with the nature and level of support varying according to each community’s needs.

This is a hands-on accounting position with a strong service and technical-assistance component. The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between transactional accounting, reconciliation and financial reporting, problem solving, and helping municipal staff and officials better understand and manage their financial systems.
