Job summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber is seeking a Construction Inspector for Municipal Michigan, based in Saginaw with travel across Michigan. The role involves field observation, documentation, and ensuring contractor compliance with project designs.

Full-time with travel and outdoor work, including weekends. The candidate will prepare daily reports, verify compliance, and liaise between contractors and senior engineers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; associate degree is a plus.
• Municipal construction inspection and documentation experience.
• Familiarity with survey principles and stakes/cut sheets.
• Knowledge of water, sewer, pavement construction; HMA and concrete helpful.
• Familiar with digital inspection platforms (Appia, AASHTOWare) is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel, including weekends.
• Strong communication and ability to work independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Bluebeam or PlanGrid desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed daily reports documenting work status, tasks, resources, and site conditions.
• Verify construction compliance with design requirements and document proper execution.
• Assist with RFIs and liaise between contractors and senior technicians/engineers.
• Identify and help resolve construction issues and contractor non-compliance.
• Communicate with residents, business owners, and municipal representatives regarding progress and issues.
