Job summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, in Lansing, MI, is seeking a Municipal Civil Engineer to design water mains, sanitary sewers, and road projects for local municipalities.

You will perform design calculations, prepare cost estimates, and support bidding and construction phases while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across offices. This role requires CAD/Civil 3D proficiency and a willingness to travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in the design of water main, sanitary sewer, and road projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel to project and client sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design water main, sanitary and storm sewer, and road projects for local municipalities.
• Perform design calculations, quantify bid items, develop cost estimates, and prepare reports.
• Execute CAD drafting using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Support bidding and construction phase services, including RFIs, shop drawing reviews, and as‑built drawings.
• Collaborate with technical staff across Fishbeck offices to deliver consulting services to municipalities, universities, and private development clients.
• Engage daily with multidisciplinary project teams in a dynamic, multi‑office environment.
