Job Details: Job Location: Colorado Premium Denver - Denver, CO, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $19.60 - $24.50Hourly, Summary: This position works under general supervision and in tandem with production packers to arrange various protein cuts and other products on a roll stock packaging machine to package customer products. Help ensure product being processed is packaged and coded in accordance with customer product specifications. Ensure machine adjustments being utilized match the product specifications for the finished product. Is alert to potential product defects. Perform routine basic maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs. Use problem-solving skills to control lost time due to machine malfunctions. Support all for food safety, quality assurance, personal safety, and product standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) and procedures are followed to safeguard workers from the release of hazardous energy. Is an Authorized Employee who locks out and tags out equipment for cleaning, repairing, servicing, setting-up, adjusting, or unjamming operations. Understand job hazards and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for the safe usage of the specific Hazardous Energy Control Procedures for the equipment.
- Performs all production related duties for setting up the roll stock tools and monitoring performance to maximize production efficiency and throughput. Arrange various protein cuts and other products on a roll stock packaging machine to package customer products. Help ensure product being processed is packaged and coded in accordance with customer product specifications. Understand daily production schedule and recognize specific requirements for all products that apply.
- Evaluate equipment performance and recommend improvements and attend to machines so they operate correctly and produce the desired results. Make minor repairs and clean the equipment when needed. Notifies Maintenance for appropriate mechanical issues and inform supervisor when issues may be affecting line output. Responding to leakers, working with Maintenance to identify root cause and appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain equipment and make necessary machine adjustments to meet product quality and personal safety standards. Install/change rolls of film (forming and non-forming). Monitor and correct film tracking to ensure finished products meet prescribed packaging standards. Works with department Leads and Supervisor to coordinate changeovers and staffing to minimize impact on production. Perform safety check on equipment being used to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Ensure an adequate flow of raw materials to machine when in operation and identify possible problems with machinery to ensure product quality, employee safety, and to minimize downtime. Communicate routinely with coworkers, quality assurance, maintenance, and management to ensure the highest quality products are made in the safest possible manner.
- Accurately fills out Foods Safety and Quality paperwork. Maintains required production paperwork. Ensures the work area is clean and meets the company standards. Supports and complies with all policies and procedures that ensure food safety, including cleanliness and housekeeping in all work areas. This includes responsibility for Safe Quality Food (SQF) for BRC compliance, HACCP, CCP tasks, sanitation, and all support program implementation.
Education/Experience
- High School or GED required, with one year of manufacturing equipment experience in commercial food operations, preferably in a protein-related industry or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as letters, memoranda, invoices, policies, and other documentation.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions, and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Sufficient mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals accurately. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage correctly. Ability to lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with operational-level process issues.
- Must be able to stand a minimum of eight hours and continuously lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. May help lift up to 80 lbs. with assistance.
