Job summary

CPS Inc. in Fremont, CA, is seeking a Stick Pack Machine Operator to set up, operate, sanitize, and maintain Stick Pack and Bartelt packaging equipment, ensuring consistent production performance.

This role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and a commitment to safety and quality

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Previous machine operation experience with high-speed packaging equipment, stick pack machines, or Bartelt lines is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand equipment functions and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, sanitize, and perform routine maintenance on Stick Pack and Bartelt packaging equipment.
  • Monitor packaging lines to maintain proper functionality and efficiency.
  • Identify and address equipment or production issues, notifying the Packaging Manager when unresolved.
  • Adjust equipment settings according to product requirements.
  • Inspect lines and surrounding areas for cleanliness and unobstructions.
  • Apply equipment tags as per procedures.
  • Examine packaging materials for quality issues and report concerns.
  • Reference machinery manuals to support operation and maintenance.
  • Maintain cleaning and sanitation records.
  • Complete production records after each run and shift end.
  • Achieve or exceed established production goals.

Job description

Stick Pack Machine Operator Required Equipment Experience Candidates should have experience operating one or more of the following packaging machines: Viking 10-Lane Stick Pack equipment or Mespack Viking Masek Turpack Universal Pack Sanko Matrix Syntegon/Bosch sachet equipment

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Previous machine operation experience required, preferably with high-speed packet packaging equipment, stick pack machines, or Bartelt lines.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand equipment functions and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Effective communication skills and proficiency in basic mathematics.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and operational performance.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain efficient workflows.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing production requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete complex assignments with general direction and limited supervision.
  • Ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Thorough understanding of workplace safety requirements and precautions.

  • Forklift certification is a plus.
Pay Range $24-30/hr

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, sanitize, and perform routine maintenance on Stick Pack and Bartelt packaging equipment.
  • Monitor packaging lines throughout production to maintain proper equipment functionality and operating efficiency.
  • Identify and address equipment or production issues, immediately notifying the Packaging Manager when problems cannot be resolved.
  • Review packaging specifications and adjust equipment settings according to individual product requirements.
  • Inspect production lines and surrounding areas to ensure cleanliness and prevent obstructions that could interfere with machinery or product flow.
  • Apply "Clean" and "Dirty" equipment tags as required by established procedures.
  • Examine packaging materials, film, and powder for potential quality issues and communicate any concerns to the supervisor.
  • Understand the operation, capabilities, limitations, and troubleshooting procedures of all assigned equipment.
  • Regularly evaluate quality control practices and operating procedures to ensure production standards are maintained.
  • Complete required production records following each product run and at the end of each shift.
  • Achieve or exceed established production goals and performance expectations.
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize equipment after each production run and notify the QC Technician when Hygiena swab testing is required.
  • Maintain accurate and complete equipment cleaning and sanitation records.
  • Reference machinery manuals when necessary to support equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support packaging and production activities.
Physical Requirements
  • This position requires the ability to: Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and climb stairs throughout the workday.
  • Reach, twist, lift, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Use hands and fingers to grasp objects, operate equipment controls, and perform machine-related tasks.
  • Operate hand trucks and pallet jacks.
  • Perform mathematical calculations and interpret numerical information.
  • Read and comprehend equipment manuals and operating instructions.
  • Gather, interpret, and analyze complex information and production data.
  • Coordinate and perform multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
