Job summary

NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) in Norfolk, VA seeks a versatile Maintenance Technician to perform multi-trade building repairs. You will read drawings and blueprints to plan and lay out work, using knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry or painting to complete repairs.

The role requires hands-on experience with various trades, adherence to safety rules, and ability to perform preventive maintenance and related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience across multiple trades in building maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental rules for trades.
• Ability to read blueprints, sketches and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance in at least three trades (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry or painting).
• Repairs washers and dryers and refers complex issues to supervision.
• Plans work from drawings and blueprints, ensuring proper spacing, routing and installation.
• Complies with safety regulations and uses proper tools and testing devices.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
