Job summary

Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a General Maintenance Technician Level 1 to join a tight-knit facilities team. You will perform skilled trades across carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance, with weekend/holiday shifts and a commitment to safe, dependable service.

The role emphasizes preventative maintenance, collaboration with contractors, and on-call coverage.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.
Valid Michigan driver's license and access to Pine Rest Transportation Vehicles.
Competent using smartphone, tablet and computer technology.

Responsibilities

Troubleshooting — determining causes of operating errors.
Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines).
Performs minor electrical maintenance to include replacement/repair of fixtures using hand, power and specialty tools.
Mechanical — knowledge of machines and tools, their design and maintenance.
Assists in carrying out maintenance routines both general and planned.
Performs preventative maintenance.
Maintains the exterior of the building and the grounds.
Assists in snow removal and seasonal grounds work as needed.
Meets with contractors to disseminate site-specific knowledge.
Monitors contractors working in the vicinity.
Maintains a safe environment for patients and employees.
Provides input on efficiency of procedures in the assigned area.
Must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in department trainings.
Participate in the on-call rotation system, including emergency coverage of plumbing, HVAC, and other general maintenance.
Assist other maintenance workers as needed.
