Role Overview

The Nursing Assistant performs patient care under supervision of the LPN or RN, assisting with hygiene, mobility, hydration, nutrition, and other patient needs.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutrition
  • Provide routine treatments and maintain a safe, clean environment
  • Ensure safety, security, privacy, and confidentiality of patients
  • Follow standard precautions, including hand hygiene
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Record vital signs and pertinent patient data accurately
  • Recognize and communicate safety concerns to the healthcare team
  • Participate in handoff reports and hourly rounding
  • Provide excellent service and care to patients and families
  • Maintain a clean and organized nursing unit
  • Transport items, equipment, blood products, and medications (excluding controlled substances)
  • Maintain regular attendance and compliance with policies
Additional Functions
  • Support planned changes and participate in performance improvement activities
  • Understand legal issues, patient rights, and regulatory standards
  • Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory training
  • Provide age-specific care, assessing patient data to meet individual needs
Qualifications

Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent; relevant healthcare training or certification preferred

Licensure/Certification: Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification required

Experience: At least 1 year of healthcare experience in the past five years or relevant training/certification; new graduates of approved nursing programs may qualify without experience
