Job summary

MEI, a Minnesota based elevator manufacturing and service company, seeks a Staff Accountant to join our team in Mankato. You will manage sales and use tax compliance across multiple states, support month-end close, and maintain accurate general ledger entries with the Controller.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in accounting and 2+ years of tax-related experience, plus strong Excel skills. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and a collaborative, growth‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• 2+ years tax-related experience preferred.
• Corporate accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Manage sales and use tax filings, registrations, and compliance for 10+ states.
• Prepare, reconcile, and maintain tax records, schedules, and documentation.
• Reconcile and post daily and monthly cash activity and GL entries.
• Collaborate with Controller and accounting team on daily operations and projects.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls.
