Job Description: Multispindle Screw Machine Operator

Join Herker Industries, Inc. as a Multispindle Screw Machine Operator. This full-time, entry-level position in the machinery manufacturing industry involves the following responsibilities:

1. Adjust machine controls and change tool settings to maintain specified tolerances.
2. Replace worn tools, sharpen dull cutting tools and dies using bench grinders or cutter-grinding machines.
3. Inspect sample workpieces with gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators to verify conformance.
4. Start lathe or turning machines and observe operations to ensure specifications are met.
5. Position, secure, and align cutting tools using hand tools and verify with measuring instruments.
6. Study blueprints, layouts, charts, and job orders for specifications and operational instructions.
7. Select and set cutting tools according to specifications and shop mathematics.
8. Set cutting speeds, depths, and feed rates; position tools relative to workpieces.
9. Refill, change, and monitor fluids such as oil and coolant.
10. Install fixtures, cams, gears, and stops to control stock and tool movement.
11. Compute dimensions and machine settings based on material properties and mathematical knowledge.
12. Manually or mechanically lift and position metal stock or workpieces.
13. Operate toolholders and automatic feeding mechanisms.
14. Control coolant flow and coating processes as needed.
