Job summary

AP Health is seeking a highly experienced Surgical Assistant to join our team in South Palm Beach, FL. This role is strictly surgical with no clinic time, and requires 2+ years of experience as a surgical first assistant, including Labor & Delivery experience.

The position involves performing duties in the operating room, including positioning and draping, suturing, and assisting in intraoperative care, as well as on‑call responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience functioning as a surgical first assistant, with Labor and Delivery experience required.
• Current national surgical assistant certification.
• Active BLS and ACLS.
• Comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance provided.

Responsibilities

• Function as a Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room.
• Position and drape the patient under the direction of the surgeon.
• Suture and retract all tissue layers.
• Assist in intra-operative care by performing technical duties as assigned.
• Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations.
• Rotate on call responsibilities.

What you will do:

• Function as a Surgical First Assistant in the Operating Room
• Position and drape the patient under the direction of the surgeon

• Assist in the intra‑operative care of the patient by performing technical duties as assigned
• Perform comprehensive and problem‑focused histories and physical examinations
• Rotate on call responsibilities

What do you need:

• 2+ years experience functioning as a surgical first assistant – Labor and Delivery experience is a must
• Current national surgical assistant certification
• Active BLS and ACLS
