Job summary

JPS Health Network is seeking a Multiskilled Tech I–IV for the Surgery Unit on nights at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, TX. The role involves technical and clerical duties to support patient care and treatment.

Qualifications

• Must have one of: CNA (Texas), CMA/CCMA, EMT, or PCT certification.
• Current BLS-CPR certification must be maintained.
• Must have current licensure/certification/registration for the discipline.
• Complete Area Specific Orientation within 90 days of employment.
• Experience levels aligned with the Multiskilled Tech I–IV classifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care with attention to age and development.
• Assist with infection prevention and patient safety.
• Record vital signs, I/O, weights, ECG, venipuncture, and bedside testing; document in patient records.
• Deliver and retrieve items as needed within the hospital.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, procedures, ambulation and transfers.
• Monitor supplies and equipment; maintain PAR levels.
• Perform clerical tasks (fax, copier, computer, insurance coding, patient charges, calls).
• Monitor patients on restraints or suicide precautions and document accordingly.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment.

Job Summary

The Multiskilled Tech I performs technical and clerical duties associated with the care and treatment of patients.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities

• Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and development stage.
• Assist with patient care in a way that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection, accidental contamination, and protects the patient from injury or harm.
• Obtains and records vital signs, I/O's, weights, basic ECG monitoring, venipuncture’s, bedside testing, and documents in the patients record as directed by the licensed personnel.
• Delivers and obtains items from other areas of the hospital as required.
• Prepares and assists with admissions, discharges, procedures, ambulating and transfers of patients.
• Assists in monitoring adequate availability and stocking of supplies and equipment according to established PAR levels.
• Performs clerical functions (fax, copier, computer, printer; insurance coding, patient charges, and telephone).
• Monitors patients with restraints or on suicide precautions and documents as directed.
• Maintains a safe, clean work environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Must have one of the following: Current Nurse Assistant certification from the Texas Department of Public Health (CNAs only); or Current certification from a national registry as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); or Current State of Texas registration (EMT); or current Patient Care Tech certification (PCT).
• Current JPS recognized BLS- CPR Certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Must have current licensure, certification, or registration relative to the discipline used to qualify for the position and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Completion of Area Specific Competency Based Orientation Program within the first 90 days of employment.
• 4737 Multiskilled Tech I: 0 -1.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4738 Multiskilled Tech II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4739 Multiskilled Tech III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4740 Multiskilled Tech IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited medical training program (e.g. EMT-B/I, EMT-P, CMA, CNA, etc.).
• Completion of basic ECG, Phlebotomy, or Medical Terminology courses.
• Graduated from an accredited nursing school.
