Job summary

Qualifications

  • Current BLS certification maintained throughout employment.
  • National CMA or CCMA certification required.
  • Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; obtained during orientation.
  • CMA II: 2–4.99 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Document all care provided in the electronic medical record.
  • Deliver care appropriate for the patient’s age and development.
  • Ensure exam rooms and supply areas are clean and stocked.
  • Clean equipment and ensure current safety inspection dates.
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, electronic messages, and medication refills.
  • Collect lab specimens as directed.
  • Administer approved medications as directed.

Job Description

Job Summary: The Certified Medical Assistant II provides medical assistance under the supervision of the physician, physician's assistant, or nursing staff.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities
  • Assists with patient care by completing screening questions, medication reviews, obtaining vital signs, and recording height, weight, and other patient data as required.
  • Prepares exam space for scheduled procedures.
  • Documents all care provided in the electronic medical record.
  • Delivers care appropriate for the patient’s age and development.
  • Ensures exam rooms, supply rooms and other areas of the clinic are clean and well stocked.
  • Cleans equipment according to instructions for use and ensures equipment has current safety inspection dates.
  • Assists with scheduling appointments, completes electronic patient messages, medication refill requests and patient forms.
  • Collects lab specimens as directed.
  • Administers approved medications as directed.Job description is not an all-inclusive list of duties and may be subject to change with or without notice. Staff are expected to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Current certification from a national registry as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
  • Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in department orientation and maintained throughout employment when working within the Behavioral Health Department.
  • Certified Medical Assistant II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in department orientation and maintained throughout employment when working within the Behavioral Health setting.
