Job summary

Mars Petcare is seeking a Shift Maintenance Technician to join a rotating team ensuring electrical and mechanical systems, utilities, and facilities operate safely and efficiently. You will support continuous improvement, installations, and reliability initiatives.

The role requires strong troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and vacuum systems, with hands-on fabrication and machine tools experience. Expect 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in a technical discipline preferred; 10+ years in a technical field highly regarded.
• Excellent knowledge of plant flow, operation, and utilities; strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and vacuum systems.
• Ability to design/fabricate using sheet/structural metals, plastics; operate basic machine tools.
• Strong hand tool proficiency, pipe fitting, HVAC, boiler, and utilities operation/maintenance.
• Knowledge of machine design and material strengths; safe rigging techniques.
• Experience with forklifts and equipment operation; GMPs and clean design practices.
• Ability to work in a team with minimal supervision; adaptable to long shifts and physically demanding tasks.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders; able to work in heat/cold and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Analyze conditions, troubleshoot failures, repair and perform preventive/predictive maintenance on production equipment, building and utilities.
• Plan and coordinate work performed by associates or contractors; manage unplanned/ planned changes.
• Prioritize repairs; ensure permanent fixes within 14 days and proper documentation.
• Lead technical troubleshooting across process, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Train shift associates on setup, change-over, and operation of equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues using MMI and PLC logic.
• Ensure all work orders and log information are complete and accurate.
• Complete planned work; maintain and upgrade electrical/mechanical knowledge.
• Address food safety and quality concerns proactively.
