Job summary

Valley Health System is seeking a Laboratory Assistant Level I to efficiently process patient and specimen workflows, performing pre-analytic steps and potentially some analytic/post-analytic steps for waived testing. The role includes strong customer service, data entry, and documentation responsibilities in a regulated lab environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with optional further study in science or clinical labs and certification as MA or phlebotomist.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Pursuing an Associate or Bachelor degree in science or clinical laboratory program (MLT/MT).
• Certification as medical assistant (MA) or phlebotomist is a plus.
• Medical terminology knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process patient and specimen workflow efficiently.
• Perform pre-analytic phases of lab testing; may perform analytic/post-analytic phases for waived tests.
• Provide face-to-face and telephone customer service and data entry.
• Maintain instruments and document all activities accurately.
• Monitor supplies and ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance.
