The Department of Biostatistics at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health seeks applicants for multiple open-rank, tenure-track, and tenured faculty positions in Biostatistics.
The Department of Biostatistics at Columbia University is one of the premier biostatistics departments in the nation. It has more than 35 faculty members, including 13 ASA Fellows, and 14 research staff members. The department is renowned for research in clinical trial design, survival analysis, nonparametric and semi-parametric statistics, precision medicine, causal inference, machine learning, functional data analysis, imaging statistics, statistical genetics, and other fields. It maintains strong collaborative ties within the Mailman School of Public Health, a top-ranked institution, and the Columbia University Irving Medical Center. The department offers education programs leading to M.S., M.P.H., Ph.D., and Dr.P.H. degrees and is at the forefront of health data science in collaboration with the Columbia Data Science Institute.
The Mailman School of Public Health is a globally renowned institution in public health research and education, with over 500 full-time faculty members across six departments, many holding interdisciplinary appointments, and numerous centers fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. The Columbia University Irving Medical Center includes four schools and is a leader in scientific research, medical education, and patient care.
Responsibilities:
Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field by the start date. Expertise in biomedical applications such as deep learning in health, reinforcement learning, spatio-temporal statistics, digital health, network analysis, knowledge extraction, statistical genetics/genomics, aging, frailty, and precision medicine is desirable. Consideration for tenure requires a strong record in teaching, research, publications, and external funding. Junior candidates should demonstrate potential; senior candidates should be recognized scholars with a proven track record.
