Job summary

WGN-TV Chicago, part of Nexstar Media Group, is seeking a Sports Producer to lead coverage across television, streaming, and digital platforms.

The ideal candidate brings journalism experience, strong Chicago sports knowledge, and the ability to produce engaging segments under deadline. The role requires collaboration with anchors, reporters, and digital teams in a fast-paced newsroom.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in journalism/communication.
Minimum five years of television producing experience.
Strong news judgment and sports storytelling.
Excellent writing and communication under pressure.

Responsibilities

Produce daily sports segments for broadcast and streaming platforms.
Write and edit clear, engaging, and accurate sports content under deadline.
Coordinate coverage of major local, regional, and national sporting events.
Develop storytelling opportunities beyond highlights and scores.
Collaborate with digital and social teams across platforms.
Support livestream productions using OBS, vMix, and related tech.
Assist planning, booking, and execution of special projects and live events.
Work with reporters, editors, and anchors to uphold high standards.
Identify opportunities to create digital, streaming, and vertical video content.
