Job summary

Nexstar Media Group, Inc. is seeking a multimedia journalist for the FOX 5 San Diego/KUSI News duopoly. The role requires reporting during the week and anchoring weather on weekends, with duties including shooting, writing, editing vosots and packages and contributing to digital platforms across devices.

The ideal candidate will have strong ad-lib skills, storytelling ability, and newsroom experience in a medium to large market, plus familiarity with livestreaming and weather systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication or related field.
• 3–5 years TV news reporting and weather anchor experience in a medium to large market preferred.
• News videography, editing and livestreaming experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and balanced reporting of news stories following company standards for journalistic integrity and quality.
• Shoot, write, and edit stories ensuring accuracy, clarity, and strong storytelling.
• Contributes to our digital platforms by writing web articles or producing/hosting programs for our CTV streaming app or producing reels for our social accounts.
• Creatively present stories in engaging ways across devices and platforms.
• Ad-lib breaking news fluently and interact with anchors.
• Collaborate with photographer, producer, and assignment desk on live shots as needed.
• Attend editorial meetings and regularly pitch original story ideas.
• Develop community contacts and a network of news sources.
• Produce and anchor weather and traffic segments for weekend newscasts and fill-in during the week as needed.
• Attend station partnerships in the community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
