Job summary

TEGNA Inc. through KHOU-TV Houston is seeking a skilled Photojournalist to create compelling stories for TV, social, and streaming. You may work solo or with a team, using the latest editing tools to deliver engaging content on tight deadlines.

A valid driver’s license and ability to operate news gathering vehicles are required. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in a newsroom, experience in photojournalism and editing, and familiarity with non-linear editors like EDIUS.

Qualifications

BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field preferred.
3-5 years newsroom experience preferred.
Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems.
Must be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable.
Proven ability to generate creative, engaging live shots.
Knowledge of EDIUS or Non-Linear editing systems preferred.
Ability to work under time pressure and deadlines.
Current driver’s license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle.

Responsibilities

Capture compelling news, sports, features and documentary-style stories under tight deadlines.
Operate an ENG truck or IP video-based live unit when assigned.
Be assigned to team or solo for daily news assignments.
Attend editorial meetings and pitch story ideas.
Use graphics and new forms of media to enhance stories.
