Job summary

KCRA 3, a Hearst Television station in Sacramento, seeks a Special Projects Producer to develop compelling local programs across TV, digital, streaming and social platforms. You’ll uncover impactful California stories, shape the plan, and guide reporters from concept to on-air execution.

You have 4+ years producing in a newsroom, strong writing/editing skills, and the ability to manage multiple crews and deadlines with integrity. Flexible shifts and bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of producing experience in a newsroom or similar setting.
• Strong writing and copy-editing skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple crews and deadlines.
• Creative presentation style and ability to showcase all resources and elements.
• Exhibit unwavering integrity and ethical standards.
• Must be available to work flexible shifts as needed.
• Bilingual experience is a plus.
• Related military experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Select, research, and write content for local half-hour programs that create an "experience" for viewers.
• Uncover and pitch unique ideas for stories that will capture attention on all platforms.
• Work with and guide reporters in story production.
• Produce platform-optimized videos, graphics, and written content that go beyond what airs on TV.
• Coordinate creative vision with team of anchors, reporters, photographers, editors and production staff.
