ABB in Raleigh, NC is seeking a research intern to support R&D projects across electrical, mechanical, thermal topics and (generative) AI. You will perform tasks and contribute to investigations, design, draw, and model components, and document simulations and tests.

Enrolled in a Master’s or PhD in STEM fields in the US; reliable transportation required; eligible to work in the US without sponsorship; onsite/hybrid work model with team collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD degree program in the US in relevant engineering or CS fields.
  • Specialized coursework or research in at least one of electrical machines, mechanical/thermal modelling, mechatronics prototyping, or AI implementation.
  • Intern must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Support ABB R&D projects and investigations related to electrical, mechanical, thermal topics and AI.
  • Find and evaluate state-of-the-art technology from public sources; contribute ideas and evaluation strategies.
  • Help design, draw, and model new components and test set-ups.
  • Run, document calculations, simulations, laboratory tests, and experiments.
