Job summary

UAB Medicine’s Radiology CT team in Birmingham seeks a qualified technologist to perform a variety of radiographic procedures for diagnostic imaging. You will position patients, set technical parameters, and assist physicians in procedures, while upholding radiation safety and quality image standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience.
• Cardiographic Tech credentialed from CCI prior to hire date or transfer date.
• Radiologic Technologist with Radiography credential from ARRT prior to hire date or transfer date.
• Radiologic Technologist with Sonography credential from ARRT prior to hire date or transfer date.
• Medical Sonographer credential from ARDMS prior to hire date or transfer date.

Responsibilities

• Position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
• Implement radiation protection and safety standards.
• Prepare, perform and assist the physician in special and advanced procedures.
• Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the scope of practice and applicable regulations.
• Help position patients and select parameters accurately.
• Ensure all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
• Ensure high-quality images and patient data are correctly submitted to PACS.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly department and related areas.

Education

Job Description

Perform a variety of radiographic procedures used in the diagnostic treatment of illness and injuries.

• Position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.


• Implement radiation protection and safety standards.


• Prepare, perform and assist the physician in special and advanced procedures.


• Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.


• Help position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.


• Ensure all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.


• Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).


• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storageareas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
