Job summary

Nexstar Media Group, Inc. is seeking a multimedia journalist/reporter to produce and present content for broadcast and digital platforms.

You will shoot, write, edit, and feed news content while reporting on breaking accidents and jams, and going out as a multimedia journalist to cover stories for our audience. The role requires reporting on local events, arranging interviews, and ensuring accuracy and editorial quality across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Minimum two years’ experience in news reporting.
• Superior on-air presence.
• Ability to meet deadlines and multitask.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Flexibility to work any shift.

Responsibilities

• Reports news stories for broadcast, describing the background and details.
• Arranges interviews with people who can provide information about stories.
• Reviews copy and corrects errors in content, grammar and punctuation.
• Determines a story’s emphasis, length and format, and organizes material accordingly.
• Researches and analyzes background information related to news stories.
• Gathers information about events through research, interviews or attendance.
• Pitches stories to news managers and producers relevant to the local community.
• Receives assignments and evaluates leads to develop story ideas.
• Revises work to meet editorial approval or time requirements.
• Shoots and edits news events and reports.
• Produces and presents reports for all platforms.
• Writes stories for the web and eMedia platforms.
• Interacts with viewers on social media sites.
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
