JOB SUMMARY
The person in this position shoots, edits, and performs post-production work on all TV station programming and manages program scheduling for on-air content that is approved by the Community Relations Director. This incumbent also assists in development and oversees the maintenance of the City’s main webpage.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Website & Digital Platform Management
- Oversees the daily operation, maintenance, performance, and security of the City’s official websites and affiliated subsites, ensuring reliable functionality, accessibility, and public usability.
- Coordinates website structure, content updates, and enhancements in collaboration with departmental subject matter experts; initiates routine content reviews to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensures compliance with accessibility standards and apply search engine optimization (SEO) best practices to improve discoverability of City information.
- Coordinates with the Information Technology Department regarding hosting services, domain registration, SSL certification, and overall site security.
- Analyzes website traffic and performance metrics and prepares reports to inform content strategy and continuous improvement.
- Updates information, materials, and content regularly to ensure the City’s digital presence remains current and accurate.
- Responds in a timely manner to citizen requests and inquiries submitted through website forms and digital platforms, ensuring appropriate routing and follow-up.
- Research emerging website needs and periodically recommends enhancements, upgrades, and new functionality to support evolving public engagement goals.
Content Creation & Digital Communications
- Creates, edits, and manages written, graphic, and multimedia content for websites, digital platforms, newsletters, and presentations.
- Designs and maintains online forms and interactive tools to support service delivery, data collection, and two-way communication with residents.
- Supports digital branding efforts by ensuring content aligns with established City brand guidelines, messaging standards, and visual identity.
- Maintains and organizes the City’s digital asset library, including photography, video, and graphic files, using standardized naming conventions and version control.
- Provides proofreading and editorial support to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy of published materials.
Newsletter & Public Engagement Support
- Manages production and distribution of the City’s electronic newsletter, ensuring timely inclusion of accurate news, events, and announcements.
- Coordinates content sequencing, formatting, and automated feed compatibility to support consistent and effective outreach.
- Monitors and responds to resident inquiries received through digital communication tools, escalating or routing requests as appropriate.
Multimedia Production & Event Coverage
- Plans, shoots, and edits digital video and audio content for internal and external audiences in support of City communication objectives.
- Assists with studio and field production, including photography, videography, and event coverage, as assigned.
- Maintains readiness and proper storage of photography and video equipment, including cameras, audio gear, lighting, batteries, and media storage.
- Downloads, archives, and categorize digital media in accordance with departmental standards to ensure long-term accessibility and retrieval.
- Works closely with marketing, communications, and City departments to assess digital communication needs and translate them into effective web and multimedia solutions.
- Contributes to broader digital communication planning and strategy discussions to enhance public engagement and information delivery.
- Manages multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision, balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
- Documents, tracks, and completes work requests using the department’s project tracking system.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, or a related field; two (2) years of related experience; related experience in TV Broadcast production preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
