Job summary

Qualifications

• 1+ years as an MMJ in a television newsroom.
• Experience accessing, analyzing, and simplifying public records.
• BS/BA in journalism or communications.
• A valid driver's license and good driving record.

Job Summary/Description:

WCTV is searching for a Multimedia Journalist to lead coverage of vital city and county government issues for Tallahassee and Leon County. Florida's capital city has so much to offer, including a chance to tell meaningful and impactful stories through the lens of local politics. This role is perfect for someone who works best with beat-based assignments and is a champion for community-focused and solutions journalism. Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Generating story ideas and building local contacts, with a focus on city and county government leaders, community advocates, experts at our local universities, and "real people" impacted by our stories
• Monitoring public meetings, including city commission, county commission, and school board
• Maintaining and organizing spreadsheets to keep track of meetings and follow-up story opportunities
