Job summary

KMTV, the E.W. Scripps CBS affiliate in Omaha, Nebraska, is looking for an experienced Multimedia Journalist to research, write, shoot and edit stories across platforms. You’ll cover community-relevant stories while working independently and with an award-winning newsroom.

We seek candidates with 3+ years of related experience and a BS/BA or equivalent. Strong editing, videography and on-air skills are essential to succeed in a fast-paced environment.

• Appear on TV in live and recorded situations.
• Work cooperatively with photographers assigned to stories, if one is assigned.
• Assist news producer in preparing newscast.
• Assist online staff in preparing for multimedia stories.

You’ll cover the stories that matter most to our community while working both independently and collaboratively in an award-winning newsroom. We are looking for journalists with experience who want to continue growing their skills. Omaha is Nebraska’s largest city, offering a blend of Midwest values and urban opportunities. WHAT YOU’LL DO:

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred

• Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

• Computer literacy required, including newsroom computer systems

• Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred

• Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment

• Edit video on Final Cut Pro editing systems, or similar equipment

• Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills

• Proficient at posting content to various websites

• Self-motivated and able to work in a deadline-driven environment

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company-required insurance limits
