Job summary

KMTV, the E.W. Scripps CBS affiliate in Omaha, Nebraska, seeks an experienced Multimedia Journalist to research, write, shoot, and edit compelling stories across platforms.

You’ll cover the stories that matter to our community, working both independently and with a newsroom team. We’re looking for candidates with 3+ years of experience, strong AP style writing, and the ability to produce video for broadcast and digital.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred.
  • Generally 3+ years of experience in related field preferred.
  • Computer literacy and newsroom systems experience required.
  • Videography and nonlinear editing experience preferred.
  • Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills.
  • Ability to post content to various websites and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Receive assignments or evaluate leads to develop story ideas.
  • Gather and verify information through interviews, observation, and research.
  • Organize material and write stories to editorial standards.
  • Shoot video and stills to illustrate stories.
  • Edit videos for multimedia platforms; appear on TV when needed.
  • Collaborate with photographers and assist online staff as required.
