Multimedia Journalist/Fill-in Anchor (TV & Streaming)
We’re looking for a high-energy storyteller to join KNOP-TV in North Platte, Nebraska. You will learn more here in one year than you would in three years elsewhere because you get to touch every part of the operation.
- Command the desk: Serve as a versatile fill-in anchor for both traditional broadcast newscasts and our rapidly growing OTT streaming platforms, delivering news with authority and personality.
- Own the field: Pitch, shoot, write, and edit impactful local stories that matter to North Platte and the surrounding Sandhills, ensuring our community’s voice is heard.
- Master the elements: Learn to deliver live news updates and cover local sports, gaining the kind of well-rounded experience that most journalists take years to acquire.
- Lead digital-first publishing: Don’t wait for the 6:00 PM news—push breaking updates, live streams, and custom video content straight to mobile, web, and social feeds the moment news happens.
- Drive streaming innovation: Help shape our OTT strategy by creating unique content for connected TV apps, engaging a digital-first audience where they live.
- Connect with the community: Build trusted relationships across North Platte, becoming a familiar face who listens to viewers and tells their stories with empathy and urgency.
General Responsibilities:
- A “get it done” attitude: You’re excited by the idea of doing everything—news, weather, and sports—and you thrive on the variety of a small-market newsroom.
- Screen presence: Whether you’re behind the anchor desk or live on a smartphone in the field, you bring charisma, clarity, and a digital-first mindset.
- Technical curiosity: You’re ready to master ENG gear, non-linear editing (Edius), and newsroom systems (ENPS) to produce professional content on tight deadlines.
- Storytelling chops: You have a degree in journalism (or equivalent experience) and a passion for finding the “why” behind every story.
- Composure under pressure: When news breaks, you’re the calm in the storm, able to synthesize facts quickly and go live at a moment’s notice.
- Community heart: You’re genuinely curious about the people of Nebraska and want to make a real impact in a tight-knit, supportive environment.
- The basics: A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are a must for this mobile role.
